From the rich red and royal blue color palette to the romantic outdoor ceremony, this Beauty and the Beast-inspired wedding at Channel Side Club in Palm Coast was full of personality and thoughtful details. Surrounded by their closest friends, family, and even their beloved dogs and cat, this couple created a wedding day that felt unmistakably theirs—romantic, playful, and a little bit magical.

The Details That Made This Wedding Theirs

As a photographer, I know how much work goes into the details of a wedding day. Long before a couple walks down the aisle, there are hours of decisions behind everything you see: choosing colors, finding decorations, designing invitations, collecting meaningful pieces, creating signs, arranging tables, and figuring out how all of those little elements will come together. And I think those details deserve to be remembered.

This couple put so much personality into their wedding, with subtle Beauty and the Beast touches woven throughout the day rather than simply choosing a theme and stopping there. Rich colors, storybook-inspired decorations, and carefully selected pieces gave the wedding the feeling of a fairy tale while still making it unmistakably their own.

I especially loved seeing their engagement photographs incorporated into the wedding decor. Those images were taken during their engagement session, and seeing them become part of the wedding day felt like watching one chapter of their story become part of the next. I'll be sharing more from that session in a separate post about their Castle Otttis engagement session, which I'll link here once it's published.

There were also photographs honoring loved ones who could no longer be there to celebrate with them. I always think these moments are important to photograph—not only because they are beautiful displays, but because they carry so much meaning. Weddings are celebrations of the people standing beside you, but they're also an opportunity to remember the people who helped shape your life and who you wish could have been there.

These are the photographs that can become especially meaningful years later.

The flowers will eventually fade. The cake will be eaten. The decorations will eventually be packed away. But the photographs preserve the thought, effort, memories, and people that made those details meaningful in the first place.

Thoughtful Planning Behind the Scenes

There was a lot of thought behind this wedding, and I have to give a special shoutout to the bride's mother, who also happens to be a wedding planner at Ethereal Atelier who planned most of this celebration. She provided an incredibly detailed timeline and planning spreadsheet for the day, and as a photographer, I loved having that level of organization. Having a clear timeline and knowing where everyone needed to be made it much easier to keep the day moving while still leaving room for those spontaneous moments that can't be planned. A well-planned wedding doesn't mean every minute has to feel rigid. In my experience, good planning actually gives everyone more freedom to enjoy the day because the important pieces have already been thought through. And this wedding was a great example of that.

the getting ready room

Before the ceremony, the getting-ready room at Channel Side Club was already filled with beautiful moments. One of my favorite things about this space is the natural light. It's something couples don't always think about when touring wedding venues, but the light in a getting-ready room can make such a difference in photographs. Beautiful natural light gives me the opportunity to photograph everything from the smallest details to those quiet, emotional moments without needing to rely heavily on flash. Here, the light coming through the room created a soft, natural look as the bride got ready and took in the dress she had spent so much time choosing. The bridesmaids all wore matching silk robes and slippers as they scattered around the getting ready room doing finishing touches. They all arrived to the venue with beautiful hair and makeup by Stephanie Lowitz at Sun Kissed Beauty.

First Looks With the Men Who Helped Shape Her Story

Not every first look has to be between the bride and groom.

Before the ceremony, the bride had a series of first looks with some of the most important men in her life—her father, grandfather, brother, and uncles. They lined up one by one along the water, waiting with their backs turned while she quietly walked up behind them.

She would tap each of them on the shoulder, and they would turn around to see her in her wedding dress for the very first time.

I absolutely loved this idea.

Each person standing there had known her through a different chapter of her life. Seeing their reactions as they turned around wasn't just about seeing the dress—it was about seeing her, on a day that represented such a significant moment in her life.

And because they were all lined up along the water, we were able to let the setting become part of the story too. The quiet waterfront backdrop gave these moments room to breathe, while the anticipation of each reveal made every photograph feel a little different.

These are the kinds of moments I love having the opportunity to photograph. Years from now, the dress may be packed away and the day itself may feel like a blur, but these photographs will still show exactly who was there, waiting to see her become a bride.

The People Who Came to Celebrate With Them

Before the ceremony begins, there is often a quiet stretch of time when everyone is simply waiting. It's easy to overlook these photographs. The bride and groom aren't there yet, nothing dramatic is happening, and the guests are simply sitting in their seats. But I always make a point to photograph this part of the day. These are the people they chose to invite. Every person sitting there is someone who matters enough to them to be included in one of the biggest days of their lives. Family members, lifelong friends, and the people who made the trip to be there deserve to be part of the story too. I love photographs of guests as they wait for the ceremony to begin because they capture something different from the formal family portraits later in the day. They're candid glimpses of the people who came together to celebrate this couple—sometimes chatting with one another, sometimes looking toward the ceremony space, and sometimes simply taking in the moment. Years from now, these photographs can become just as meaningful as the photographs of the couple.

Because a wedding isn't only about the two people getting married. It's also about the people who showed up to witness it.

A Ceremony Fit for a Fairytale

With ten people standing on each side of the couple, the wedding party made quite an entrance of their own. Dressed in coordinated shades of rich red and royal blue, they brought the same bold color palette from the wedding details into the ceremony. Against the greenery and waterfront setting, the colors felt dramatic without taking away from the natural beauty of the venue. The ceremony itself was filled with those moments that happen only once. When the groom saw his bride walking down the aisle with her dad, you could see the emotion on his face as he took in the moment. He managed to hold it together—but there were definitely a few tears. And then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. For the first kiss, I chose to photograph the couple from behind rather than photographing the kiss straight on. This allowed the ceremony arch to frame them while keeping their family and friends visible in the background.

I think this is one of the most important perspectives a wedding photographer can capture.

The photograph isn't only about the couple kissing. It's about the people watching them. Family members are cheering, smiling, laughing, and crying as they watch two people they love become husband and wife. The arch creates a natural frame around the couple, while all of those reactions behind them tell the rest of the story.

It's one of my favorite photographs from their entire wedding day because it captures the moment and the people experiencing it at the same time.

Family, Friends, and the Two of Them

After the ceremony, we moved into the family and wedding party photographs. With such a large wedding party—ten people on each side—there were plenty of combinations to work through, from the full wedding party to smaller groupings with family and friends. These photographs are an important part of the wedding day, even if they aren't always the most exciting part of the timeline. When the day is over, these may be some of the only photographs that include everyone who came together to celebrate the couple. Once we finished the group photographs, I took the newlyweds down to the water for some time together. The waterfront at Channel Side Club gave us a beautiful setting for portraits, and it was a chance for them to step away from the activity of the day and simply enjoy being married. Of course, there was one more important part of their family who still needed to join us. They had wanted portraits with their pets as part of their wedding-day photographs, but their furry family members arrived later than expected—after the sun had already gone down. Rather than letting that mean they missed out on those photographs, we adapted the plan and found another option.

During the reception, we headed back into the venue's getting-ready room and photographed the couple with their pets once they arrived.

Let the Celebration Begin

After all the planning, anticipation, and emotion of the day, it was finally time to celebrate. The couple shared their first dance before the reception really came alive, giving them one more quiet moment together before the dance floor filled up. And once everyone started dancing, they didn't hold back. The room was full of movement and energy—people dancing, laughing, raising their glasses, and throwing their drinks into the air as they celebrated the newlyweds. It was the kind of reception where you could feel how much fun everyone was having just by looking at the photographs. And then the bride changed into the cutest little reception dress! Her short white dress was completely covered in delicate white rose details, creating a fun connection to the roses that appeared throughout the wedding—from the ceremony to the cake. It was the perfect dress for dancing the rest of the night away.

By the end of the evening, the formalities were long behind them. The dance floor was packed, everyone was celebrating, and the carefully planned wedding had transformed into one big party with the people they loved most.

And finally, the night came to an end with a sparkler exit. After a day filled with Beauty and the Beast details, waterfront portraits, family first looks, four-legged family members, happy tears, and a very lively dance floor, the couple made their way through a tunnel of sparklers and into the next chapter of their story.

A little bit of fairy tale, a whole lot of personality, and a wedding day that was completely their own.
